NETS gives away NETS Motoring Card to motorists

Up to 1 million motorists will receive a complimentary NETS Motoring Card from now until the end of the OBU migration exercise

Singapore, 30 May 2024 – Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS), Singapore’s leading payment services group, today announced they will be providing a complimentary NETS Motoring Card to every vehicle owner when they install their On-Board Unit (OBU). Up to 1 million motorists are expected to receive the complimentary card.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be distributing the NETS Motoring Card to motorists who have installed or will be installing the OBU, for both new and existing vehicles as follows:

  • Those who have installed the OBU prior to 1 May 2024 will receive their card by post from mid June 2024.
  • Those who install their OBU from 1 May to 30 June 2024 will receive their card by post within five weeks from the date of the OBU installation.
  • Those who install the OBU from 1 July 2024 onwards will receive their card at the point of the OBU installation.

The public can contact LTA Call Assist Service at 6377 2255 for any queries.

The NETS Motoring Card is a stored value card that is compatible with the new vehicle OBU1. In addition to facilitating payment of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges, the card is also the only one that is accepted at all carparks in Singapore. In instances where the carpark operators have not upgraded their carpark system to a full Electronic Parking System, motorists can place the complimentary card within easy reach so that they can tap and hold their card for entry or exit, without having to remove the card from the processing unit.

Using NETS Motoring Card and NETS vCashCard

To start using the NETS Motoring Card, motorists can top up the card using the NETS App, which allows users to top up anytime, anywhere, while on the go. Alternatively, the NETS Motoring Card can be topped up manually at more than 3,800 NETS top-up machines, NETS Customer Service Centre, local banks’ ATMs and convenience stores islandwide.

Motorists are also encouraged to register for NETS Auto Top-up service, which will allow the card to be automatically topped up with a preset amount whenever there is insufficient value. Auto top-up will limit the chances of being caught with insufficient value or needing to remove the card from the processing unit to top up manually.

Motorists can also complement their NETS Motoring Card with vCashCard, an alternate cardless ERP payment service that ensures they will not miss an ERP payment when there is insufficient value in their NETS Motoring Card.

1 The NETS Motoring Card replaces the NETS CashCard, which is not compatible with the OBU.
